My Top 5 Fave Music Videos

Music becomes a big part of our lives. We listen to it and read its lyrics, then sing-a-long with the singer/group who sang it. Nowadays, media play a huge role to promote every country's music: FM stations such as Monster Radio RX 93.1, Magic 89.9, and MOR 101.9 that our favorite disc jockey (DJ) plays songs we want to hear on the radio, and YouTube and music channels such as MYX, MTV, and Channel V that shows the creativity of directors in order to promote high quality music videos.

Here are my top 5 favorite music videos:

-5-
The Love of Silence
Fahrenheit
[HIM International Music]

I liked this music video because it's very simple. The members, namely Wu Chun, Calvin Chen, Jiro Wang, and Aaron Yan, wore outstanding suits, making them more handsome. It included the clips from the Taiwanese drama ToGetHer starring Jiro Wang, George Hu and Rainie Yang which it became the closing theme song of the said drama.

-4-
The Boys
Girls Generation
[SM Town Entertainment]

I liked this music video because of its choreography and its transition from each member's solo to group. The girls, namely Taeyeon, Tiffany, Seohyun, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sunny, YoonA, Sooyoung, and Jessica wore classy and sophisticated outfits, Plus, Taeyeon's hair caught my attention because of her three-toned ombre: black, blonde, and pink, then she became my first bias in the group.

-3-
Stay
Carol Banawa
[Star Records]

I liked this music video because it looked classic. The video used sepia and monochrome effects that made it vintage. I also love Carol's voice; she's one of my favorite female singers in the Philippines.

-2-
First Love
Utada Hikaru
[Toshiba EMI]

I liked this music video because whenever I hear this song, I'm having a nostalgia and I can't help myself but to sing-a-long, even though it's in Japanese. This was released in 1999, and was used as the theme song for the Japanese drama Majo no Jōken, starring Hideaki Takizawa and Nanako Matsushima. I can't believe that this song is already almost 17 years old!

-1-
Heart Attack
Demi Lovato
[Hollywood Records]

I really liked this music video because it's cool. Dipping herself in black ink and having her arms and hands full of black ink are my favorite scenes in the music video. Demi Lovato is one of my favorite international female artists because she's very inspiring and strong.

BoA @ 26: My KPop Queen, My Unnie

A KPop queen, truly a total performer debuted in 2000 under the label name SM Entertainment.

BoA Kwon started her career very young. She's very popular in Korea and Japan and tried her career in USA. For 12 years in entertainment industry, she's a girl on top, received numerous awards.

Why did I idolize her? Besides she is smart and can speak fluent English, she's really a pop star who can sing and dance at the same time. Her MVs were amazing, either pop, RnB, hiphop, and ballad. My favorite songs were Everlasting, Girls on Top, Copy and Paste, Hurricane Venus, and Only One.

I started idolizing her when I saw her MV called Gils on Top on Channel V. Years after, on my birthday, Calvin Chen of Fahrenheit introduced BoA's song Hurricane Venus on his MTV show called Ri Han Yin Yue Feng (Japan Korea Music Craze) in Taiwan. After she became a judge, representing SM Entertainment, of SBS KPop Star Season 1, she had released her 7th album called Only One. Its MV had two versions: the dance and drama versions. I liked the drama version more than the dance version.

Only One MV (Drama Version)

She's still one of the judges for the second season of SBS KPop Star. Plus, she has a Hollywood movie called COBU 3D. Then she will release Japanese version of her self-composed song Only One.

Today is a special day for Jumping BoAs because it's BoA's birthday! I wish her continuous success and blessings even happiness in her life. Hope she will find her Mr. Perfect who will love her unconditionally. From a talented girl to a glamorous woman, she's indeed a global star with humility, and knows in her heart that her fans are number 1 and only one who will support her until the end.

Happy Birthday, BoA unnie!

My Birthday Wishlist

It's exactly a month before my 23rd birthday. Oh, how time flies!!! Besides stable job and good health as I wish every year, I'm thinking material things which makes me happy being a fan girl.

I've been collecting music albums of my favorite artists since elementary; from cassette tapes to CDs until unique and creative designs of their own different albums. Some contains only audio CD, or with DVD, or even posters/postcards. Somehow, its size matters how big an album is. Since my brother gave me a Super Junior's 5th album "Mr. Simple" as my 1st and only Korean album that I had, I listed below 6 albums from SM Entertainment artists as a part of my birthday (or Christmas) wishlist:

The Boys
(Special Album)
Girls' Generation

Sherlock
(Jonghyun cover)
SHINee

To The Beautiful You
(Official Soundtrack)
Various Artists

2011 SM Winter Town: The Warmest Gift
Various Artists

SM Best Album 3
Various Artists

Only One
BoA

If I have a lot of money, I can afford all of these. In reality, it's kinda impossible that I get those albums at the same time, but I'm hoping that someone who has a kind heart will give me at least one of them. Soon, I'll complete collecting these albums.

The 4 Shining Years of SHINee

It's been exactly 4 years since this shining idol group from SM Town Entertainment. They first released their debut song, "Replay". The KPop male group named SHINee, composed of Taemin, Onew, Key, Minho, and Jonghyun. Their fanclub name is SHINee World or also known as Shawols.

The first music video I've seen from SHINee is "Ring Ding Dong". I first noticed this handsome guy with blonde-brown hair. I found out in the internet that his name is Kim Jonghyun. I got interested with this group so I watched all the MVs from SHINee in YouTube,MYX, and MTV.

SHINee's Kim Jonghyun

Recently, SHINee released their 4th mini album called "Sherlock". Their latest MV featured the most beautiful Korean celebrity and Girls' Generation member Jessica Jung. I waited for their comeback stage in KBS Music Bank. They won the K-Chart for two consecutive weeks after they defeated 2AM on the first week and CNBlue on the second week.

They're also featured in the movie called "I AM". Also, the individual members are busy with their respective projects. Minho will be working with f(x) member Sulli in the Korean drama version of Hana Kimi with English title, "To The Beautiful You". Then Key is active with the musical called "Catch Me If You Can" with Super Junior's Kyuhyun and Girls' Generation's Sunny.

From singing a line "We're living in a SHINee world" from the song "SHINee World" to lines from the song "Sherlock" which are "SHINee's back" and "Give it up for SHINee", indeed they are one of the top idol groups in Korea and went popular in Japan and other countries. As I conclude this blog article, I quote what the leader Onew had said, "SHINee world is strength for me. Because I get strength when I get cheers on the stage."

HAPPY 4TH ANNIVERSARY, Shining SHINee!!!

SMTown Live World Tour Marked Their Third Year

Today was SMTown Live World Tour in LA. Top artists from SM Entertainment gathered together to showcase their talents and perform for their international fans. Performers for today's concert in Anaheim, Canada were BoA, EXO (EXO-K & EXO-M), f(x), Girls' Generation, SHINee, Super Junior, and TVXQ. It will continue on in Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and China.

Ten days ago, I posted a blog about SMTown's movie called "I AM". Now, their world tour marked their third year. It started since 2008.

I saw a petition that SMTown fans in the Philippines wanted for SM artists to perform here in Manila. There's a possibility and I hope it'll happen soon because I want to see those artists perform so perfectly on stage especially BoA, Super Junior, Girls' Generation, and SHINee who were my favorites in the agency. I was wondering if it will be held at either Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City or the new SM Mall Of Asia Arena.

I'll wait for that to happen. In the meantime, I'll save money just to buy the most expensive ticket and watch the SMTown Live World Tour in Manila because the money that I will spend for that concert would be worth it.

Dear SM Town Family

"chageun maeum moa k'eun him twedeut
urin hanaran keoseul mitgo iseoyo
urihamgge haengbok mandeureoyo
memareun sesang soge
pij'i tweneun nalggaji saranghaeyo"

This chorus came from the song "Dear My Family". It's the theme song of SM Town Entertainment's movie titled "I AM". The movie depicts the growing-up stories of popular artists from the time they were trainees till they stood on stage in New York, America. Then, this is the English translation:

"We believe that when many hearts join together
We become strong
We will be happy together
Until the day when the light stops shining,
They will love us"

I cried when I first saw the official video of this song on how every SM Town artists supports each other and loves their fans so much. It features vocals from few members of EXO, TVXQ, Luna of f(X), Yesung of Super Junior, Taeyeon of Girls' Generation, Jonghyun of SHINee, Kangta, and BoA.

But prior to this 2011 version release of this song, SM Town Entertainment released this song in 2002, which features Moon Hee Jun, Kangta, S.E.S, Shinhwa, Fly To The Sky, BoA, Isak, and CSJH.

Well, I like this year's version than 2002 because I recognize and know the current artists rather than the artists who sang the 2002 version. I am only familiar with Shinhwa who left the company and released their latest album "The Return", and Kangta and BoA who are still in the agency.

I am a recent fan of SM Town Entertainment because of BoA, Super Junior, Girls' Generation, and SHINee who are four of my favorite K-Pop artists. So I highly anticipate this movie which premieres soon in theaters in Korea. Plus their recent drama production titled "To The Beautiful You" a.k.a. Hana Kimi (Korean version) starring SHINee's Minho and f(X)'s Sulli.

Why I love SM Town? It's not only the artists who belong in this agency. But it's their love for each other and they repay their fans in terms of their hard work every time they come out on stage.

Here's my letter to the agency:

"Dear SM Family,

It's been almost a year since I became a fan of BoA, Super Junior, Girls' Generation, and now SHINee. I love K-Pop music because of you who trained and nurtured each of your artists' talents. You make me smile and cry at the same time when I see your artists smile and cry too. I know each of them repay their fans with their hardwork through their activities on screen and on stage. But I see to it that they support each other and feel that they are belong to a family called SM Town Entertainment.

I congratulate you, SM Town family, from the talented artists to its employees for a job well done. Because of you, I idolize and love your artists such as Super Junior, Girls' Generation, SHINee, and BoA. Good luck and may God bless all of you.

Love lots from KPop Fan Girl in the Philippines,

Christine (aka Jung Eun Kyo)"

The Kaleidoscope Side of Ceres Cabel: I Am A Certified Fan Girl (From Spice Girls to SHINee)

Almost all of us have our own favorite artists. But we cannot escape ourselves being a fan, and sometimes we wish that we will meet them soon or better that we will be their friends. I’m gonna share you on how I became a fan girl.

Boy bands and girl groups are very popular in the 90’s. That time I was a grade school student from University of Santo Tomas, seeing myself as one of the Spice Girls. Yes! I was a fan of Spice Girls. My favorite was Emma Bunton (a.k.a. Baby Spice). She’s so cute when I saw their music video “Wannabe”. I love their songs so much, either ballad or upbeat. One of my favorite songs is “Viva Forever”. I was so happy when they got reunited few years ago and released their singe “Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)” after Geri Halliwell (a.k.a. Ginger Spice) decided to go solo. Because of Spice Girls, I became a pop music addict.

Early 2000’s, a boy band named A1 called my attention. Their song “Living The Dream” is my most favorite. My favorite member is Ben Adams but I realized that I like Mark Read. I was so sad when they got disbanded around 2003.  After that, they released “A1: The Best Of” album, consists of all their hits from albums “Here We Come” to “Make It Good”. The songs “High & Dry” and “You’re Not In Love” are my favorites from that album. Few years after, Ben Adams joined Celebrity Big Brother in UK and ranked 5th placer. Last year, they released their latest album “Take Me Home” but without Paul Marazzi. I’m happy that A1 still lives on and continues singing upbeats and ballads under their label Columbia Records – Sony Music.

I was first year high school student in University of Santo Tomas Education High School (UST-EHS) when Sarah Geronimo won the singing competition “Star For A Night”. She was third year high school student at the same high school institution. Last 2003, our class president named Michael Lamaisri told me that I was going to represent our section for our acquaintance party and perform an intermission number. I wasn’t prepared because I hadn’t brought my minus-one, but he advised me to sing acapella instead. When the program had started, Sarah Geronimo, representing her section, first sang Lara Fabian’s “Broken Vow”. After few minutes, Michael called me and said, “You’re next.” I was so nervous that it’s my first time to sing onstage and entertain the audience. I sang “Stay” by Carol Banawa. When I finished the song, everyone applauded. I was so happy and because of that performance, I made myself very popular in EHS community, either ahead or beyond of me. I was nicknamed “The Next Sarah Geronimo of EHS”. I can’t believe that I see myself as Sarah Geronimo. She’s one of my favorite female artists in the Philippines. I had her albums from “Popstar: A Dream Come True” to “Just Me”. I still don’t have her concert DVDs and her latest albums “OPM” and “Music & Me”. Toni Gonzaga, Carol Banawa, and Juris are the other female Filipino artists that I also enjoyed listening to their songs.

Sarah Geronimo

Around 2003, ABS-CBN aired the Taiwanese idol drama “Meteor Garden”. F4 fever in Manila was on. That time, I enjoyed watching this drama, from the first episode until the finale of “Meteor Garden Season II”. I just wanted to watch their concerts “The Event” with Van Ness Wu and Ken Zhu and “Happy 50 TV” with Jerry Yan and Vic Zhou but I can’t because I had no enough money yet and I was sure that my parents wouldn’t allow me to go there. But being an F4 fan, I bought StarStudio magazines with F4 specials and their albums, even their solo albums (except Jerry’s and Van Ness’s, I just bought Vic’s and Ken’s). When F4 declined popularity, I’m not fond of watching their idol dramas. Because of F4, I love listening Mandarin pop music.

I had a crush on a young boy named Jesse McCartney a year after. He is famous in US with his released tracks “Beautiful Soul” and “She’s No You”. I bought his albums except his latest album “Departure”. The song “Because You Live” is my most favorite. I also bought two magazines about his autobiography. I found out that he has already a girlfriend named Katie Cassidy. But, on the other hand, I was glad that at least he’s happy. Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, and Jonas Brother are also my favorite American artists.

Summer 2008 entered. I finished my freshman year at University of Santo Tomas College of Commerce and Business Administration when ABS-CBN aired the Taiwanese idol drama “Hana Kimi”. Fahrenheit members Wu Chun and Jiro Wang starred in this drama. I found out that Jiro Wang was first seen in drama “It Started With A Kiss” before “Hana Kimi”. Because of Wu Chun, I got interested with Fahrenheit. I quickly searched on Google about them, watched their other dramas, and bought all of their albums online. I spent more than PhP 3,000, including the freight cost just to complete my collection. When Wu Chun and Calvin Chen visited Philippines for Romantic Princess Philippine Promo Tour last July 2008, I wasn’t able to see and meet them in person because I had classes and I was sure that there were a lot of Filipino Fahrenheit fans who will go at the ABS-CBN, but I had a chance to watch them on TV. They appeared at “Entertainment Live”, “Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 Gala Night”, “ASAP ’08”, and “The Buzz”. I also downloaded their best pictures, either individual or group. For the first time of my entire life, I registered as a member of Fahrenheit-Globa1 Forum and Fahrenheit Family Philippines. Because of Fahrenheit-Globa1 Forum, I was updated about what’s super hot and latest about them – dramas, shows, albums, endorsements, music videos, and songs. And also, I became the fourth administrator of FahrenheitFacts on Twitter. I never thought that it’s been more than four years that I still like and love this Taiwanese boy band. I WAS BEING IN LOVE WITH CALVIN CHEN. He’s my most favorite Fahrenheit member. I had completed all four albums in CD+DVD album versions. But when Wu Chun left Fahrenheit, my interest in them got lessen in updating what's latest about them. Now, I just read and like posts in our group page in Facebook on recent news about them. However, I wouldn't forget that I've become a fan of this handsome boyband from Taiwan.

I wasn't a pure K-Pop fan that time when I listen songs and watch MVs from Rain and BoA. I just liked them. When 2009 came, famous girl group from JYP Entertainment called Wonder Girls released their song "Nobody" and the large scale group from SM Town Entertainment called Super Junior went famous because of their song "Sorry Sorry". Then a lot of popular artists like FT Island, 4Minute, and U-Kiss visited the Philippines to promote their albums through mall tours and guest appearances in some shows on TV. The K-Pop fever went on fire when Super Junior set their first Manila concert named "Super Show 2". I didn't watch but I realized how K-Pop music is in demand until now. A lot of rookie groups introduced and knew because of MYX, the number 1 music channel in the country. When Super Junior released their song "Mr. Simple" and Girls' Generation released their song "The Boys", I wanted to play all over again and do the dance steps as I saw their MV on TV. Then the Mnet Asian Music Awards had simulcast airing in YouTube so I tried to watch it online and I was amazed with performances of popular Korean groups: Miss A, Trouble Maker (JS from Beast and HyunA from 4Minute), 2NE1, Girls' Generation, and Super Junior to name a few. Because of that, I became a K-Pop fan. Thus, I liked listening songs from several K-Pop artists such as 2NE1, CNBlue, and T-ara. When I searched on the internet, I found out that BoA, Super Junior, and Girls' Generation are from the same agency which is SM Town Entertainment, I started to download and tried to listen some popular hits from almost all SM Town artists until I liked the 5-member boyband SHINee, most especially their sexiest member, Kim Jonghyun. I highly anticipated their comeback last month titled Sherlock. Now, I like watching shows on KBS (Music Bank and Immortal Songs 2) and Arirang (Showbiz Korea and Pops In Seoul). Plus, I'm looking forward with the agency's latest projects: (1) movie titled "I Am" which featured behind-the-scenes and performances from SM Town Live in Madison Square Garden, New York to be released on May 10, (2) first leg of 2012 SM Town concert tour in Los Angeles, California, and (3) drama called "To The Beautiful You" starring SHINee's Minho and f(X)'s Sulli to be aired on SBS at the second half of the year.

SHINee (from left: Onew, Taemin, Jonghyun, Minho, Key)

From Spice Girls to SHINee – that’s my story. Whenever they were already gone or still existing in entertainment circle, the most important is their unforgettable songs and music videos that are being played almost every day. As a fan girl, those albums and other merchandises are worth expensive, but my happiness is still priceless.
