My Top 5 Fave Music Videos

Music becomes a big part of our lives. We listen to it and read its lyrics, then sing-a-long with the singer/group who sang it. Nowadays, media play a huge role to promote every country's music: FM stations such as Monster Radio RX 93.1, Magic 89.9, and MOR 101.9 that our favorite disc jockey (DJ) plays songs we want to hear on the radio, and YouTube and music channels such as MYX, MTV, and Channel V that shows the creativity of directors in order to promote high quality music videos.

Here are my top 5 favorite music videos:

-5-
The Love of Silence
Fahrenheit
[HIM International Music]

I liked this music video because it's very simple. The members, namely Wu Chun, Calvin Chen, Jiro Wang, and Aaron Yan, wore outstanding suits, making them more handsome. It included the clips from the Taiwanese drama ToGetHer starring Jiro Wang, George Hu and Rainie Yang which it became the closing theme song of the said drama.

-4-
The Boys
Girls Generation
[SM Town Entertainment]

I liked this music video because of its choreography and its transition from each member's solo to group. The girls, namely Taeyeon, Tiffany, Seohyun, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sunny, YoonA, Sooyoung, and Jessica wore classy and sophisticated outfits, Plus, Taeyeon's hair caught my attention because of her three-toned ombre: black, blonde, and pink, then she became my first bias in the group.

-3-
Stay
Carol Banawa
[Star Records]

I liked this music video because it looked classic. The video used sepia and monochrome effects that made it vintage. I also love Carol's voice; she's one of my favorite female singers in the Philippines.

-2-
First Love
Utada Hikaru
[Toshiba EMI]

I liked this music video because whenever I hear this song, I'm having a nostalgia and I can't help myself but to sing-a-long, even though it's in Japanese. This was released in 1999, and was used as the theme song for the Japanese drama Majo no Jōken, starring Hideaki Takizawa and Nanako Matsushima. I can't believe that this song is already almost 17 years old!

-1-
Heart Attack
Demi Lovato
[Hollywood Records]

I really liked this music video because it's cool. Dipping herself in black ink and having her arms and hands full of black ink are my favorite scenes in the music video. Demi Lovato is one of my favorite international female artists because she's very inspiring and strong.

The Reason Behind My Twitter Name

I often changed my Twitter name occasionally for a reason that I want to change. I will tell you why I decided on my Twitter names since I used Twitter for more than three years.

@ceres018
The first Twitter name I used. I was 18 years old when I registered a Twitter account.

@ceres_yiru
I used "Ceres" as my nickname since college. "Yiru" stands for Calvin Chen's Chinese name. Well, Calvin is my bias in the Taiwanese group Fahrenheit.

@cerescabel
It's simply my name.

@supersexygirl75
I just combines song titles from Super Junior-M [Super Girl] and Fahrenheit [Sexy Girl]. Plus number 75 is my Fahrenheit degree number in our fan group, Fahrenheit Lovers PH.

@KpopGirl_eunkyo
I admit that I am now a Kpop fan girl. I'm an ELF, SONE, Shawol, and Jumping BoA. Plus, I have more than 100 KPop songs on my playlist. Then Eun Kyo is my Korean name which I found out on a site. Since I liked my Korean name, Jung Eunkyo, I decided to use this on my social networking accounts and on my new fanfiction story titled "The Boys & I" which is still in progress.

@iam_smtowngirl
Well, I love almost all artists of SMTown Entertainment especially Super Junior, Girls Generation, SHINee, and BoA. When I found out about SMTown's movie called "I AM", I got so excited to watch it. I recently using this and I'm loving it. Plus my profile pic is an animated selca pictures of my favorites in each SM artist and my background picture is all the artists in the said movie.

That's all. Wow! I just used a total of 6 Twitter names. Still deciding if I would change my Twitter name again, but I think it would take months because I'm still loving SMTown Entertainment.

Happy birthday, beautiful YoonA from Girls' Generation!

SMTown Live World Tour Marked Their Third Year

Today was SMTown Live World Tour in LA. Top artists from SM Entertainment gathered together to showcase their talents and perform for their international fans. Performers for today's concert in Anaheim, Canada were BoA, EXO (EXO-K & EXO-M), f(x), Girls' Generation, SHINee, Super Junior, and TVXQ. It will continue on in Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and China.

Ten days ago, I posted a blog about SMTown's movie called "I AM". Now, their world tour marked their third year. It started since 2008.

I saw a petition that SMTown fans in the Philippines wanted for SM artists to perform here in Manila. There's a possibility and I hope it'll happen soon because I want to see those artists perform so perfectly on stage especially BoA, Super Junior, Girls' Generation, and SHINee who were my favorites in the agency. I was wondering if it will be held at either Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City or the new SM Mall Of Asia Arena.

I'll wait for that to happen. In the meantime, I'll save money just to buy the most expensive ticket and watch the SMTown Live World Tour in Manila because the money that I will spend for that concert would be worth it.

저는 한국 음악을 사랑 (I Love Korean Music)

[The title above is read as "Jeoneun hangug eum-ag-eul salang."]

When you say Asian music, it contains hits from different countries in Asia: Thailand, Mainland China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and the Philippines to name a few. Recently, Korean music ruled all over Asia and the entire world because of their trendy fashion and unique music styles.

Few months ago, 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) was held in Singapore. I watched live online through Mnet’s YouTube channel from the start of the main show. While watching, I was busy posting tweets on my Twitter account. Korean celebrities from music and drama plus international artists such as Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Black Eyed Peas members Will.I.Am and Apl.de.Ap gathered together. I was very impressed with performances from famous Korean pop (K-Pop) artists like Miss A, 4Minute’s HyunA, Kim Hyun Joong, and 2NE1. Of course, I wouldn’t forget superb performances from SM Town Entertainment artists Girls’ Generation with their Korean-English remix of “The Boys” and Super Junior hits medley: “Superman”-“Mr.Simple”-“Sorry Sorry”. Because of this, I am a certified K-Pop fan.

After 2011 MAMA, I started then enjoyed watching Korean infotainment and music shows: Showbiz Korea (Arirang TV), Pops In Seoul (Arirang TV), Music Bank (KBS), K-Wave (MTV Southeast Asia), and Pop MYX K-Pop Edition (MYX). I got updated with what’s latest in Korean entertainment not only in these shows but also in reliable updates from GoKpop, AllKpop, and Soompi websites. In addition, I was informed by some Facebook fan pages and Twitter fan-made accounts. I’d seen a lot of rookies and liked some of them. Currently, I have a total of 65 K-Pop songs in my mp3 playlist from:
  • 2NE1
  • 4Minute
  • A-Pink
  • Big Bang
  • BoA
  • CNBlue
  • Davichi
  • f(X)
  • FT Island
  • Girls’ Generation
  • KARA
  • Kiss
  • Navi
  • NS Yoon-G
  • Park Shin Hye
  • Rain
  • SHINee
  • SS501
  • Super Junior
  • T-ARA
  • TRAX
  • UKiss

Of all Korean music artists I’ve known, I most liked the members from the label management SM Town Entertainment especially BoA, Super Junior, Girls’ Generation, and SHINee. I have also biases from these K-Pop groups: [1] Taeyeon, Jessica, and Tiffany (Girls’ Generation); [2] Ryeowook, Siwon, and Sungmin (Super Junior); and [3] Jonghyun (SHINee).

Before, I didn’t like K-Pop music because I was a fan of a Taiwanese boyband Fahrenheit. Now, I enjoyed in listening several Korean songs from different genres. Perhaps, what I like about Korea besides their music is their culture, food, historic and modern places, and the people living and residing in that country. Indeed, there’s nothing wrong in listening or liking K-Pop, or becoming a K-Pop fan. Try listening few of their songs and you’ll like it. If not, just respect their style in fashion and music.

My KPop Favorites

Korean pop (Kpop) music is in demand nowadays. A lot of artists from different entertainment labels are popular not only in Asia but also Europe and America. I was still a Chinese pop (Cpop) fan that’s why before I didn’t like this kind of music. Few months later, I started to like it because of both TV and internet. But I realized that it was already 3 years since I liked a song from a Korean superstar. Here are my 7 favorite Kpop artists including the origin and reason why I liked them.
1.       Rain

I saw him in Korean drama hit Full House with actress Song Hye Kyo which was aired in the Philippines. I’m Coming was the first song I heard and first video I saw. Other songs I liked are Love Story and Love Song. I also watched his Hollywood movies titled Speed Racer and Ninja Assassin. He’s currently serving in the army to serve his duties for the country. I’ll wait for his comeback in Korean entertainment industry.

2.       BoA

When I was watching Channel V Asia, I first saw a video entitled Eat You Up. I thought she was a Japanese singer. But I found out that she’s a Korean who was popular in Japan, Taiwan, and even America. I liked her more when I saw her videos such as Energetic and Hurricane Venus. In addition, I also found out that she is one of the artists under the label management SM Town Entertainment since 1997. Hope she will be a famous actress in Hollywood after the premiere of Step Up 4 this year.

3.       2NE1

They’re the first Korean girl group that I like since they released their debut song Fire. One of the members is Dara Park who was famous in the Philippines because she won first runner-up in a talent search called Star Circle Quest in ABS-CBN. When she and other members went here last year for one-night Manila concert, she talked to her Filipino fans and said, “Na-miss niyo ba ako?” [Did you miss me?] I can’t believe she can still speak Tagalog. I hope she and the rest of 2NE1 members will be back in Manila for another concert.

4.       UKiss

This Korean male group sang Bingeul Bingeul. I noticed them when MYX VJ Chino Lui Pio interviewed them for Asia MYX special. I was surprised when three of its members can speak English and hosted a Korean music show called Pops in Seoul. Alexander was my bias because he can speak more than 5 languages. (Hope he’ll learn Tagalog soon.) But when I heard that he left the group to continue his studies, I understood that he prioritized education even though I felt sad. Now that I’m not a UKiss fan, still I recognize some members and somehow I still like their music.

5.       4Minute

“One, two, three, four, four, 4Minute girl…” was catchy but easy-to-remember one-liner from 4Minute’s debut song Hot Issue. I knew this group when they visited the Philippines and performed in a Sunday noontime musical variety show. I like their songs such as What A Girl Wants and I My Me Mine. Though 4Minute member Hyun-A released her song Bubble Pop and had a collaboration with label-mate and Beast member JS in Troublemaker, hope 4Minute’s music would be known worldwide.

6.       Super Junior

I consider this large scale group from SM Town Entertainment as world-class performers. I became a Filipino ELF because of them. My top three favorite members are Ryeowook, Siwon, and Sungmin. Aside from their song No Other, Mr. Simple is the best song I heard. Though I wasn’t able to watch their Super Show concert series, at least I witnessed their live performance in 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards through Mnet’s YouTube channel. Though Heechul is in the army and Leeteuk enters the military this 2012, I’ll support them as a group and as individuals. Fighting!

7.       Girls’ Generation

“Bring the boys out!” They really brought the boys out. Nine female members gave their amazing performance at 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards. I’ve seen the music video more than 50 times and I almost memorized and practiced their dance. Taeyeon is my favorite. Also, I like Jessica and Tiffany. But before I saw their video The Boys, Run Devil Run was the first video I watched from them. Well, I’m still hoping Girls’ Generation to visit the Philippines and hold a concert soon.
