Entertainment Live: A 5-Year Saturday Habit

Almost five years that this entertainment talk show gave a lot of gossips about Filipino artists. It took its final episode last January 28 by recent hosts Luis Manzano, Bianca Gonzales, Nikki Gil, and Ogie Diaz. It’s called Entertainment Live
Bianca Gonzales, one of the original hosts of the show, said that the show was created two weeks prior to its pilot episode. Its original hosts were the original hosts of the country’s biggest reality show called Pinoy Big Brother [Philippine Big Brother] namely Toni Gonzaga, Mariel Rodriguez, and Bianca Gonzales. These three girls did their job as excellent emcees of TV.

Sixrets, Screentriga, Showbiz Shoutout, and Super Fans Day are some of the show’s segments that I liked. The show also added some funny flavor when Luis Manzano entered as one of the regular hosts and called “Entertainment Live’s adopted son.” Also, K Brosas and Cesca Litton were also the hosts in few months.
One of the most memorable episodes would be Toni and Bianca’s interview with Romantic Princess male leads Wu Chun and Calvin Chen. Toni is much luckier because she again interviewed them in talent reality show called Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 [Philippine Dream Academy] with co-host Billy Crawford after they performed the Romantic Princess theme song Xin Wo.

Entertainment Live was a habit every Saturday afternoon. Now, there is a new entertainment talk show called Showbiz Inside Report that hosted by Ogie Diaz, Joey Marquez, Janice de Belen, and Carmina Villaroel. Hope this show will be as successful as Entertainment Live. Good luck to the hosts of that new show. And to all emcees of Entertainment Live: congratulations for a job well done and also good luck to your upcoming shows.

Farewell, Baking Life!

I love desserts and sweets. I also want to try baking in the future. When I started using Facebook, Baking Life was an application game that I loved most.  I played this for more than a year. When I found out last month that it’ll be offline on 31st of January, I felt sad and finished all the baking goods that I want to bake. Thus, this is the final record of my hard work in avoiding these goods to be burned and quickly taking out from the oven to be served.
  • Level: 66
  • Experience: 524,801
  • Mastery: 95
  • Profit: 4,532,000+

Here’s the list of 29 recipes that I mastered and served:
  • Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • Cinnamon Rolls
  • Fruit Cake
  • Halloween Cookies
  • Cocoa Stripes
  • Raspberry Cheesecake
  • Pink Ribbon Cake
  • Baklava
  • Graveyard Cake

I Was Born On The Year of The Earth Snake!

October 5, 1989 was my birthdate; that means I was born in the Year of the Earth Snake. I believe in those advices regarding fates through Chinese Zodiac signs that said by feng shui masters and astrologers in the Philippines. Though they were almost true, they were guides to be a better person with wisdom and determination. I want to share what's with my Chinese zodiac sign.
Occupying the 6th position in the Chinese Zodiac, the Snake symbolizes such character traits as intelligence, gracefulness and materialism. When it comes to decision-making, Snakes are extremely analytical and as a result, they don’t jump into situations. They are effective at getting the things they want, even if it means they have to scheme and plot along the way.

Snakes are very materialistic creatures, preferring to surround themselves with the finest that life has to offer. This is especially evident in the home, where luxurious furnishings and surroundings help Snakes seek the peace they need in order to thrive.

Health
Snakes prefer living a life of calmness, preferring quietness over noise and a manageable workload rather than a schedule that’s overly-booked. Snakes become easily stressed when their lives aren’t peaceful or in order. Too much of this way of life can shorten a snake’s life!

Career
Snakes do work very hard, but they have a tendency to be job-hoppers as they become easily bored. Their somewhat laid-back attitude causes them to be mistakenly categorized as slackers, but nothing could be further from the truth! Snakes are very creative and extremely diligent. They’re excellent problem-solvers and thrive under tight deadlines. Good career choices for Snakes include: scientist, analyst, investigator, painter, potter, jeweler, astrologer, magician, dietician, and sociologist.

Snakes are excellent seducers so they never have trouble attracting others. However, they’ll be the ones to decide when a relationship has potential and when it does not. Once they’ve chosen a partner, a Snake’s insecure side will begin to show through. Snakes guards their chosen partners much like a prized possessions, becoming jealous and even obsessive. Snakes prefer to keep their feelings to themselves. It’s important to never betray a Snake’s trust as a betrayed snake will make it a goal to get even some day!

Positive personality traits:
  • curious, distinguished, elegant and gregarious
  • lucid, organized, perceptive and profound
  • reflective, sensual, sophisticated, self-contained, shrewd, and wise

Negative personality traits:
  • anxious, calculating, crafty, and cruel
  • dishonest, extravagent, jealous, and mean with money
  • obstinate, possessive, remote, self-doubting, suspicious and vengeful

The Snake's Favorite Hobbies and Leisure Pursuits:

  • Astrology
  • Backgammon and Chess
  • Painting and Decorating
  • Photography
  • Stamp Collecting
  • Theatre and Opera
  • Travel

Typical Snake Occupations

  • astrologer, clairvoyant, diviner, or anything related to the arcane or esoteric mysteries of life
  • linguist, philosopher, professor or teacher, writer
  • ambassador, mediator
  • interior designer
  • personnel officer, public relations executive
  • psychologist, psychiatrist

Earth Snakes – Year 1989
Earth Snakes always seem to be calm and content. They’re friendly and approachable and believe that they’ll reap great rewards by working hard and relying on common sense.

What Earth Means To Me
  • Home is an important haven where strength and harmony reign. There is a need for stability and relationships flourish under this element.
  • The center of the home is earth as are the Northeast and Southwest.
  • Colors are yellow and tan.

My fate for 2012 Year of the Black Water Dragon
  • Allies: Rooster, Ox
  • Best Month: June, August, September
  • Fear of Robbery

My MTV Kaleidoscope Diary

It was 1997 when VJ Utt started in MTV Asia. He was the coolest VJ and one of the most handsome men in Asian television. Because of him, I started to watch MTV. I was saddened when I found out on E! News Asia that he’ll leave MTV after 14 years for his personal reasons. Now that MTV turned 30 years old and hailed as the longest music channel according to Guinness, I absolutely became one of its fans after winning merchandise in their movie contest, granting my music video collection, and featuring my name and comment in their new show.

26 October 2011 – It was a surprise! A delivery boy came to our house. He gave the package all the way from Singapore. That package was from MTV Asia! I won merchandise from the movie What’s Your Number? so I quickly opened it and saw 2 items: a set of 8 coasters and a notebook. I can’t believe it because I just tried to join the online contest before its scheduled deadline of sending entries. I haven’t watched the movie when it was premiered last October 5 in the Philippines but my brother downloaded it online. And I’ll wait for that time when will my brother and I watch that movie.

12 November 2011 – Well, this was a surprise when I opened my MSN mail. I tuned in on MTV on Thursday morning for the encore of my music video selection that I sent last October. I enjoyed watching while dancing and singing along. I saw my picture and my dedication twice. I regretted that I didn't watched it on its premiere timeslot, but at least I was very happy then when I saw my favorite three MVs playing on MTV. These were the music videos that I had chosen:
Song: SHERO
Artist: S.H.E.
HIM International Music Company's most popular female group composed of Selina Jen, Hebe Tien, and Ella Chen proved their fans that they are called Shero (female version of hero). In spite of negative issues, they remained stronger than their debut. This is my most favorite MV from them.

Song: Sexy Girl
Artist: Fahrenheit
Included in the group's fourth album Super Hot, they showed their sexy image. Taiwanese model Monica Yin paired up with handsome Calvin Chen. While I was watching it, I imagined myself as Monica, dancing in front of Calvin. What a wild imagination! And it's one of my favorites because of this line in the song: "You got my love, you are my sexy girl". It's also set as my mobile ringtone.

Song: Mr. Simple
Artist: Super Junior
"Because you naughty, naughty" at the beginning of the song and "blow your mind" after the song's chorus are from Super Junior's fifth album. Nowadays, Korean pop are very popular not only to Asians but also to Western people from North and South America even in Europe. I first heard this song when Super Junior performed in Music Bank then I got addicted on it. Kim Ryeowook's cuteness and handsomeness attracted me, even Choi Siwon's sexy chest on SuJu's fifth album cover caught my attention.

A personal letter to MTV Asia: Thanks a lot from What's Your Number merchandise you gave to my music video selection you played. Honestly I was an MTV fan before because I always watched MTV Most Wanted hosted by VJ Utt. When Fahrenheit's Calvin Chen started being a new host of a Japan-Korea music show produced by MTV Taiwan last year, I became an MTV fan once again and hoping you play Mandarin hits. I was very happy that you picked my favorite Taiwanese male group Fahrenheit as Mandarin Hits's artist of the month last December 2010. This year, I can't believe that VJ Utt is still in MTV and saw a new title of MTV request program, from MTV Most Wanted to My MTV. I think My MTV is better because you're playing 3 music videos of our choice. [excerpt from my FB note "I ♥ Music!" on 17 November 2011 at 11:04pm]

14 January 2012 – MTV Asia has a new show entitled “The MTV Show” last January 7. It’s an interesting show so I watched its first episode on the day it was aired. Few days after the pilot episode was aired, I followed the show’s Twitter account and liked its fan page on Facebook. I tweeted twice and posted a comment on its fan page what I can say on that show. Second episode had aired and I was surprised when VJ Rich read my name and comment on the show’s fan mail segment. It was exactly what I posted on the show’s fan page. VJ Rich replied on my post that the show don’t have enough time to tackle everything about Asian pop. So I responded him that it was okay and at least they will feature some famous artists from the music category I mentioned. Tomorrow is Saturday again and it’ll air its third episode.

MTV Asia is one of my favorite cable channels. Hope they will continue playing good music videos from Korea, the Philippines, USA, UK, Taiwan and other countries.

My KPop Favorites

Korean pop (Kpop) music is in demand nowadays. A lot of artists from different entertainment labels are popular not only in Asia but also Europe and America. I was still a Chinese pop (Cpop) fan that’s why before I didn’t like this kind of music. Few months later, I started to like it because of both TV and internet. But I realized that it was already 3 years since I liked a song from a Korean superstar. Here are my 7 favorite Kpop artists including the origin and reason why I liked them.
1.       Rain

I saw him in Korean drama hit Full House with actress Song Hye Kyo which was aired in the Philippines. I’m Coming was the first song I heard and first video I saw. Other songs I liked are Love Story and Love Song. I also watched his Hollywood movies titled Speed Racer and Ninja Assassin. He’s currently serving in the army to serve his duties for the country. I’ll wait for his comeback in Korean entertainment industry.

2.       BoA

When I was watching Channel V Asia, I first saw a video entitled Eat You Up. I thought she was a Japanese singer. But I found out that she’s a Korean who was popular in Japan, Taiwan, and even America. I liked her more when I saw her videos such as Energetic and Hurricane Venus. In addition, I also found out that she is one of the artists under the label management SM Town Entertainment since 1997. Hope she will be a famous actress in Hollywood after the premiere of Step Up 4 this year.

3.       2NE1

They’re the first Korean girl group that I like since they released their debut song Fire. One of the members is Dara Park who was famous in the Philippines because she won first runner-up in a talent search called Star Circle Quest in ABS-CBN. When she and other members went here last year for one-night Manila concert, she talked to her Filipino fans and said, “Na-miss niyo ba ako?” [Did you miss me?] I can’t believe she can still speak Tagalog. I hope she and the rest of 2NE1 members will be back in Manila for another concert.

4.       UKiss

This Korean male group sang Bingeul Bingeul. I noticed them when MYX VJ Chino Lui Pio interviewed them for Asia MYX special. I was surprised when three of its members can speak English and hosted a Korean music show called Pops in Seoul. Alexander was my bias because he can speak more than 5 languages. (Hope he’ll learn Tagalog soon.) But when I heard that he left the group to continue his studies, I understood that he prioritized education even though I felt sad. Now that I’m not a UKiss fan, still I recognize some members and somehow I still like their music.

5.       4Minute

“One, two, three, four, four, 4Minute girl…” was catchy but easy-to-remember one-liner from 4Minute’s debut song Hot Issue. I knew this group when they visited the Philippines and performed in a Sunday noontime musical variety show. I like their songs such as What A Girl Wants and I My Me Mine. Though 4Minute member Hyun-A released her song Bubble Pop and had a collaboration with label-mate and Beast member JS in Troublemaker, hope 4Minute’s music would be known worldwide.

6.       Super Junior

I consider this large scale group from SM Town Entertainment as world-class performers. I became a Filipino ELF because of them. My top three favorite members are Ryeowook, Siwon, and Sungmin. Aside from their song No Other, Mr. Simple is the best song I heard. Though I wasn’t able to watch their Super Show concert series, at least I witnessed their live performance in 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards through Mnet’s YouTube channel. Though Heechul is in the army and Leeteuk enters the military this 2012, I’ll support them as a group and as individuals. Fighting!

7.       Girls’ Generation

“Bring the boys out!” They really brought the boys out. Nine female members gave their amazing performance at 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards. I’ve seen the music video more than 50 times and I almost memorized and practiced their dance. Taeyeon is my favorite. Also, I like Jessica and Tiffany. But before I saw their video The Boys, Run Devil Run was the first video I watched from them. Well, I’m still hoping Girls’ Generation to visit the Philippines and hold a concert soon.

Why I love microblogging

Twitter is one of my favorite microblogging site. I can post whatever I want, either positive or negative. Or what I opt to an issue. Followers can reply, retweet or favorite your post.

Well, I mostly followed my friends, celebrities, and even fan page accounts. Though some of the celebrity accounts were fake but still I follow them.

I appreciate celebrities who retweeted or replied tweets which I tagged them. Carol Banawa, a famous singer in the Philippines and popularized theme songs such as 'Till My Heartaches End' which is the theme song of latest Kimerald (Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson) movie, replied to my post. She's one of my idols. Also  Filipino acoustic performer Princess Velasco and showbiz correspondent from Entertainment Live and The Buzz MJ Felipe responded to my tweet. Other celebrities such as Jeff Timmons of British boyband 98 Degrees and the Philippines' Prince of Pop Erik Santos retweeted my post. On the other hand, Magnifico main lead Jiro Manio and one of the stars of Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock Jasmine Richards followed me.

Another microblog site is Sina Weibo. It is a Chinese version of Twitter. I made an account because I want to follow Taiwanese stars. I admired Taiwanese actress Reen Yu because she replied a lot in my posts (either Weibo or Facebook). She's the female lead of Taiwanese drama Love Buffet with Fahrenheit members Aaron Yan and Calvin Chen.

These microblogging sites are my best friends because I can post what I feel and what I want to say. I realized that social networking is such powerful. I learned that I would be responsible in what I post.
